    Desktop & Support Team Lead

    Responsibilities include:

    Technical Support

    • IT support relating to issues with the internal systems and networking infrastructure
    • Manage and track call-log system to ensure calls are closed according to department standards and service level agreements
    • Support services for Microsoft-related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Microsoft CRM etc.
    • Support services for virtualization technologies: VMware and Microsoft
    • Remote access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services
    • Delegate technical support duties to capable individuals
    • Assist Service Desk Analysts and Desktop team with calls of a more difficult nature
    • Be able to do due diligence on new Smollan entities being taken on globally
    • Be able to manage remote and non-remote teams workload

    Infrastructure Reporting

    • Ensure that the following info reflects on the report before submitting to the Server Manager
    • Running of anti-virus updates on all laptops and desktops
    • Service packs and Windows updates

    Team Management

    • Recruit, interview, and select employees as per department/employment equity/company policy requirements
    • Plan optimal distribution of work
    • Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff
    • Delegate responsibility and authority
    • Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
    • Monitor and control work standards of subordinates and department as per the managers instruction
    • Define performance objectives and goals with employees
    • Evaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate actions
    • Identify employee training needs
    • Propose training for subordinates
    • Investigating disciplinary issues within the department
    • Make recommendations as per leave applications

    Requirements

    Your skills and experience include:

    • Diploma or Degree/NQF level 6 or 7, MCIP/ MCSE Certification, SQL, Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft CRM & ITL Exchange
    • 4-5 years’ technical support experience within a Microsoft environment, with at least 3 years in a Team Leader role or management role.
