    Development Planner

    Reporting to the Manager: Development Planning within the Office of the Municipal Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following, inter alia:

    • Controlling the critical key performance areas of the functionality and provides input into the broader Development Planning objectives.
    • Identifying the key deliverables and immediate goals detailed in the Council's Integrated Development Plan with due consideration given to social, visual, functional environmental dimensions impacting on the plan.
    • Identifying the key dimensions and opportunities with regards to Developmental Plans and Integrated Development Framework.
    • Conducting situational analysis and feasibility studies to assess the impact of specific project initiatives and opportunities.
    • Coordinating and executing specific project / programme requirements and monitors application and outcomes.
    • Assessing compliance with specific Town Planning Regulations and undertaking site Inspections to ensure compliance with developmental plans.
    • Formulating plans detailing interventions and / or community projects and funding proposals based on identified needs.

    Requirements:

    • A valid Grade 12 certificate
    • A National Diploma or Degree qualification in Town and Regional Planning
    • Registration as a Professional Planner in accordance with the Planning Professions Act 32 of 2002 will be an added advantage
    • A minimum of five (05) years experience within Town / Regional or Development Planning related environment.
    • Experience within the local government sphere will be an added advantage Sound knowledge of local government-related legislation, regulations and policies Highly analytical and strategic thinker
    • Ability to communicate in both English and isiZulu
    • A valid code B driver's licence
