Drilling Assistant at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Key Competencies

• Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in an open pit-mining environment
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Able to work well under pressure
• Own Transport & accommodation
• Blast assistant certificate will be an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Assist Drill Rig Operator with drilling activities
• Ensure sufficient drill holes are cleaned for the day’s production
• Drilled holes properly plugged
• Assist with sharpening of drill bits
• Ensure that no less than 2 buckets of stemming are placed next to each drilled hole
• Continually monitor drill rig, report any mechanical faults to Operator
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Manager
• Help with blasting activities
