• Our client, a Consulting Engineering firm, has a vacancy for an Electrical Technologist. The person must be willing to relocate to the Northern Cape, or be based there already.

Educational Qualifications:

• BTech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current ).
• ECSA registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist (or eligible for registration).

Experience:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering office.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Electrical Design for:
• MV and LV reticulation.
• MV and LV switchgear.
• Substation design.
• Motor Control Centres.
• Lighting and small power.
• Earthing and Lightning Protection.
• Backup power systems (Generators, UPS, Solar PV, etc.).
• Fire detection, Data, Access Control, and Security Systems.
• Familiarity with SANS and other relevant codes of practice.
• Load calculations, cable sizing, and distribution board design.

Design & Analysis Tools:

• AutoCAD
• Microstation
• Revit MEP
• Dialuz/Relux
• ReticMaster
• Etap
• Digsilent

Project and Site Experience:

• Capable of attending site meetings and performing inspections.
• Experience with project documentation: tender documentation, BOQs, technical specs.
• Coordination with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical).

Soft Skills & Attributes:

• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
