Must be in possession of a Trade Certification (Millwright) or a National Diploma or Degree in Electro/Mechanical Engineering or relevant comparable qualification, with a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant post years post trade / qualification experience.
A Wireman’s licence will be advantageous.
Competent in electrical and mechanical plant maintenance, diagnostics and repairs with proven fault-finding capabilities.
Experience with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pipe fitting, plumbing, hydraulics, refrigeration, air conditioning.
Experience in diesel engine maintenance; and plant, factory or building maintenance management.
Good understanding of basic PLC programming and fault finding;
variable speed drives (VSD) and Servo drives;
electrical fault finding and panel design (From 24VDC up to 400VAC);
HMI Programming and fault finding; and Electrical schematics.
The incumbent has to be familiar with good workshop practices, including an understanding of current work health and safety policies.
The incumbent must be computer literate, have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
Duties:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing maintenance, and repairs of the electrical, mechanical and civil services and equipment at the SANAE facility.
Must ensure the efficient maintenance, service ability and operation of the electrical, mechanical and civil equipment.
Perform daily routine checks on the equipment to ensure all is operational.
Troubleshoot and maintain equipment to ensure that all equipment runs efficiently.
Execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities as per schedules.
Physically monitor and control of the facility processes.
Ensure the service ability of all additional base related technical systems and equipment.
Prepare monthly reports on all work performed, conditions of electrical and mechanical equipment, and spares utilised or required.
Analyse previous electro-mechanical technician (Millwright) reports and prepare program of action.
Conformance with environmental and safety requirements.
