Engineer (Network Management Systems) at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose:

• To apply professional principles and controls technical procedures and processes to address the specific engineering requirements of internal/external clients.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Providing comments on options and alternatives with respect to the processes and procedures encapsulated in specific complex engineering work
• Providing advice/information and guidance on the principles, procedures and application associated with a complex form of engineering project.
• Applying principles and techniques associated with the development and presentation of technical design for complex form of engineering work related to specific projects
• Coordinating and/or guiding sequences and procedures associated with the preparation collation of contract documentation and/or evaluating tender application for complex engineering work related to the project
• Applying defined standards and control the implementation/ outcomes associated with specific complex engineering contract
• Disseminating information on the professional aspects of a specific design concept and provides reports detailing interventions and outcomes
• Applying complex engineering principles, techniques and stands to address stability and capability of electrical distribution systems
• Supporting of safety and accident prevention by complying with safe working practices.
• Attending to customer and technical queries by consulting and providing technical advice and information to stakeholders.
• Implementing new practices and technology by providing guidance to stakeholders on the interpretation of procedures requirements
• Undertaking other related duties

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Electrical or Electronic or Computer Engineering.
• Registered as a Candidate Engineer in Electrical or Electronic or Computer Engineering with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) within 3 months of appointment.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 2 Years relevant post qualification experience in the Electricity Supply Industry.
• Computer Literacy.
