As an Enrolled Nurse in our Theatre department, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care and assisting the Registered Nurses and Surgeons during surgical procedures. This is a full-time, permanent position, and your primary working hours will be during the day with occasional weekends and on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Registered Nurses and Surgeons during surgical procedures
Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the Registered Nurse
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician
Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and supplies
Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of the operating room
Provide post-operative care and monitor patients' recovery
Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and follow-up appointments
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide the best possible care for patients
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as professional standards and legal requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
Enrolled Nurse and current registration with the South African Nursing Council
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Enrolled Nurse in a Theatre setting
Must have experience as an anaesthetic and circulating nurse.
Experience in scrubbing and circulating for various surgical procedures
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anaesthetists, equipment, and sterile techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Good time management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
