    Hepstar is a Cape Town based TravelTech company that focusses on the supply and optimisation of travel ancillary products and services for airlines, online travel agencies and travel technology companies, particularly products offered to customers during the online ticket booking process.     Purpose of the role

    We are looking for a highly motivated individual who loves analysing data from multiple sources to deliver innovative analytical solutions to complex problems that directly impact the company's bottom-line.

    Under the supervision of the Head of Data Science & Analytics, you will plan and execute data analysis projects to extract relevant insights from medium to large data sets. The data will be used to monitor client performance, identify client and company opportunities, measure product performance and can influence the company’s strategic roadmap.

    Daily activities include, but are not limited to

    • Communicate actionable insights to internal and external audiences with pro-active recommendations using statistical techniques;

    • Create and maintain reporting templates and dashboards;

    • Manage data quality and manage processes to increase this;

    • Create automated tools which identify performance trends and business opportunities;

    • Identify and scope opportunities for process automation.

    Qualification

    Relevant qualification in statistics, computer science, research or similar.

    Skills

    • Strong planning, organising and time management skills;

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;

    • Creative mind to use data to solve business challenges;

    • Basic programming skills, particularly SQL, R and/or Python;

    • Advanced MS Office skills (especially MS Excel pivot tables);

    • Proficiency in available data analytics tools and experience in manipulating and analysing large data sets (e.g. SQL, R, Python, Matlab, KNIME, Pandas, Google Big Query, Google Data Studio, Microsoft Power BI);

    • Knowledge of and experience with data analytics tools and techniques (Predictive analytics experience/knowledge is a plus).

    Experience

    • Minimal 2 year BI and statistical reporting experience;

    • Ability to translate data analysis insights into actions;

    • Proven ability to complete projects and ad-hoc requests timeously and in line with requirements;

    • Experience in running statistical tests.

    Not required, but a plus:

    • Experience in building predictive models, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques;

    • Experience in the tech, travel and/or fintech industry.
