Manage the Research Farm to ensure that research projects are run according to Researcher’s requirements and generate income from commercial blocks initiatives.
Ensure Farm Foremen, Supervisors and Personnel complete their tasks according to set guidelines and provide guidance where necessary.
Compile and manage annual budget.
Manage performance of personnel and exercise discipline where necessary.
Market commercial products to maximise income.
Participate on Institute committees including Farm Management Committee and OHS Committee.
Manage farm machinery and equipment and ensure proper maintenance and repairs when necessary.
Operate farm machinery.
Take lead during emergencies like veld or vegetation fires.
Work abnormal hours due to operational requirements.
Requirements
A National Diploma in Agriculture/ Horticulture or equivalent with seven years’ experience in plant production.
Excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
Operate without supervision.
Computer literacy.
Knowledge of Global gap Accreditation Scheme.
Ability to adapt to working on adverse weather condition for long hours.
