    Finance Director

    Main Duties And Responsibilities

    • The South Africa Finance Director is accountable for all financial activities in the entity. He/She manages controlling activities (operational and investments), ensures compliance with tax and accounting regulations and manages the relationships with banks and external auditors.
    • Report accurate reliable financial results within the prescribed deadlines and quality
    • Manage financial operations and activities, including accounting, controlling, capital management and financial planning
    • Ensure that the external audit process is controlled and that unqualified audit reports are obtained.
    • Ensure the implementation and adoption of internal controls, aiming at ensuring the integrity of the accounts in compliance with standards and regulations in a business-oriented manner.
    • Treasury management: Monitor the cash flow, the cash resources of the entity and the Working Capital Requirements.
    • Provide a complete procurement support function for all expenditures with external suppliers, responsible for the provision of professional expertise regarding the implementation and development of procurement. Assist in developing a strategy related to preferential procurement and align to business strategy.

    Overall responsibility for the financial management of the business. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Preparing and reviewing of monthly balance sheets and income statements for management packs
    • Preparing and reviewing monthly commentary on income statements and balance sheets variances for management packs

    Reviewing of:

    • monthly general ledger reconciliations
    • supporting reinsurance schedules and reconciliations
    • annual budgets and forecasts
    • Performing any ad hoc requests and projects, including financial modelling
    • Assistance with technical, audit or accounting queries
    • Assisting with the preparation of technical papers on new IFRS impact on the company
    • Preparing and having a good understanding of financial reporting related to the qualitative and quantitative solvency regime
    • The implementation of necessary system changes to ensure reporting requirements for the regulatory authorities can be met on an ongoing basis
    • Ensuring timely reporting to the regulatory authorities, which includes reporting from within the Finance space under the current and future requirements
    • Reviewing of year-end procedures and statutory annual financial statements
    • Liaising with internal and external auditors
    • Preparation and contribution to various ad hoc projects within the Finance environment
    • Responsible for the implementation of IFRS17

    Formal Qualifications

    • Matric
    • CA(SA) + Big 4 – Non-negotiable
    • 5+ years of post articles Senior Finance experience
    • Meet the FAIS Fit & Proper requirements

    Experience

    And Knowledge

    • Experience in co-ordinating monthly & quarterly management reporting
    • Big Experience in management position and having gained significant short term insurance experience;
    • Financial and operational management experience
    • Ability to engage and report to Executives
    • Experience in controlling credit, insurance, and other financial risks
    • Experience in drafting management and Statutory reporting (Annual Financial Statements, Regulatory returns etc)
    • Experience in the development and enhancement of current business processes
    • Up to date knowledge of the accounting standards
    • Up to date knowledge of taxation legislation
