    Finance Manager

    Carter is looking for a Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity with significant growth potential. The role will include responsibility of the broader Carter group financial function and will be based at our flagship Renault dealership in Melrose, Johannesburg.

    Carter is start-up revolutionising the customer journey and experience to make new car buying hassle free and convenient - driven by distinctive technology and data. 

    The role is suited to a motivated, detailed-oriented individual that has strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills and has the desire to work in an exceptionally fast-paced environment.

    Salary/Cost to company will be around R600k to R700k (excl.bonuses) depending on experience.  

    Responsibilities will include:

    Management accounting

    • Responsible for implementing and building accounting and finance processes, models and procedures
    • Responsible for new systems as well as changes to systems implementation
    • Accountable for managing monthly and weekly reporting
    • Review of all key financial reconciliations
    • Responsible for consolidation entries and checks of the Dealership as well as consolidated

    Dealership management accounts

    • Responsible for preparing consolidated KPI reporting packs and presentations on performance
    • Responsible for ensuring all reporting deadlines are met
    • Accountable for day to day financial operations
    • Responsible for working capital and cashflow management of the overall Dealership
    • Accountable for financial record management

    Financial reporting

    •  Responsible for preparing financial reporting information in line with IFRS
    •  Responsible for preparing analysis to understand performance and improvement areas
    •  Responsible for preparing dealership reporting packs

    Compliance / Taxation

    •  Oversight of compliance submissions with various regulatory bodies (including VAT, income tax and PAYE)

    Audit and controls

    •  Responsible for managing mid-year and full-year audit processes
    •  Responsible for implementing controls to mitigate and reduce risk

    Other

    • Responsible for ad-hoc finance related functions that may arise relating to the dealership
    • Responsible for providing guidance and oversight to team and the accountants

    This is a full-time role. Interviews will be held in Johannesburg. Only South Africans or individuals with an existing valid South African work permit need apply.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Candidates must have a degree in accounting
    • At least 3 years working experience
    • Candidates must have people management experience
    • Retail experience in the motor industry would be advantageous, but not required
    • Strong interpersonal skills and EQ are required – candidates will be rigorously interviewed for this
