    Finance Managers

    Job Description

    Job Purpose

    To ensure effective and efficient management of all financial aspects relating to the plants and that all the financial information that is made available to the plant Senior Management is correct and accurate. To serve as a central point of contact and communication to Divisional Financial Director in terms of all financial matters relating to the plants/businesses.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Operational

    • Control of budget preparation and finalization
    • Provide analysis of the operation’s financial performance against budget, forecast and prior year.
    • Capex preparation and justification.
    • Monitor spend on CWIP, assist with sign off and closing off projects.
    • Assist Commercial with any RFQ/RFP, the completion of documents, calculations, pricing and costing required.
    • Assist Commercial with costing on new products to market.
    • Control of insurance administration (including completion of annual declaration).
    • Financial control of fixed assets and ensuring annual asset verification is completed.

    Governance and legislation

    • Drive implementation, maintenance and improvements of all internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements in production, sales, distribution and accounts departments.
    • Oversee preparation of accurate monthly income statement comparison and report any variances
    • Analyse trends and report findings, making suggestions for improvement where identified.
    • Responsible for the compilation of forecasting income statements and compare against budgets and previous forecasts.
    • Responsible for the Plant’s income statement and consolidation of financial information.
    • Responsible for review of Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Working Capital forecast.
    • Provide advice to management and the plant on an ad-hoc basis
    • Present financial results to the plants and create awareness around individual impacts on bottom line
    • Responsible for accuracy and sign-off of Stock Inventory Control with Supply Chain.
    •  Ensure adherence to Group guideline and policies around financial management.
    • Identify risks and develop processes to mitigate any risks
    • Oversee and liaise with internal and external auditors
    • Prepare documents with auditors and respond to queries
    • Ensure internal assessments are conducted on a regular basis and all issues are cleared up
    • Ensure all management report points are actioned and dealt with following the external audit and any findings kept to a minimum

    Team Performance

    • Lead and manage the team
    • Identify current skills of subordinates and provide training according to needs.
    • Monitor time keeping and adherence to company policy.
    • Discipline incorporating counselling and the disciplinary process if necessary
    • Daily communication to ensure employees are knowledgeable/informed of company matters/issues.
    • Measure individual and team performance and give feedback.
    • Personnel administration (leave etc.)
    • Drive Talent Management and succession planning.

    Allocation of Resources

    • Manage adherence to manual delivery note procedure
    • Monitor and ensure adherence to internal control procedures
    • Manage inventory by looking at stock accuracy, adherence to frequency of stock takes, stock take procedures, stacking procedures, write down’s and stock take variances.
    • Monitoring of spares to ensure availability, quality, Re order levels and quantities, Cost reduction, Obsolete stock in the system
    • Monitor critical spares and ensure capitalised in line with policy as required.
    • Approval of credits, debits to customers
    • Approvals of purchase orders

    Customer Interface

    • Support and maintain good relationships with all customers, to grow sales, achieve the sales objectives and targets and ensure customer satisfaction and retention is achieved.
    • Ensure customer complaints are addressed promptly and the appropriate corrective action is taken to resolve customer complaints and customer loyalty, satisfaction and retention is achieved.
    • Conduct the annual customer satisfaction surveys in line with the quality assurance requirements to obtain customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve.
    • Stay abreast of product changes and developments in the industry to grow sales and satisfy the customer needs to achieve the sales objectives and targets.

    Finance

    • Provide accurate forecasting for budgeting purposes and participate in finalising the annual budget.
    • Ensure the sales turnover and margins are achieved and budgets are adhered to.
    • Updating the 12 month rolling sales forecast in the Demantra forecasting tool

    Lead the team

    • Ensure the work areas are maintained in a clean and organized state to comply with the housekeeping standards and requirements.
    • Lead and manage the team and quality assure team deliverables to achieve the sales KPI’s.
    • Review the skill set of the sales team, identify training needs and make the necessary arrangements with HR for training to upskill the team and improve the competence of individuals.
    • Resource the team and liaise with HR to commence the recruiting process when required.
    • Manage individual performance of team members and apply all relevant Human Capital practices to achieve an engaged and focused team.
    • Drive talent management and succession planning.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications

    • BCom in Cost and Management Accounting or Equivalent qualification
    • BCom Honours and audit articles an advantage
    • Job Related Experience Required
    • 6-8 years’ relevant experience with 3 years’ in management
