A unique opportunity awaits for a Financial Systems and Operations Controller who thrives at the intersection of finance, technology, and operational transformation. This remote role, based in South Africa, offers the chance to take full ownership of the end-to-end finance function across a multi-entity, high-growth US-based medical services provider, reporting directly to the Managing Director. The organisation operates on a direct-pay, cash-based, and government contract model, delivering nationwide mobile diagnostic imaging and wellness services across 24 states. In this pivotal position, you will not only oversee financial operations and reporting but also lead the transformation of finance into a highly automated, insight-driven function. You will move beyond traditional finance responsibilities, taking accountability for financial reporting, controls, compliance, and strategic insight delivery to the MD, while architecting automated data pipelines and partnering closely with engineering teams to build scalable, tech-enabled financial systems. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about leveraging advanced AI tools, automating manual processes, and building robust reporting frameworks that provide real-time visibility at an executive level. What you'll do:
In this role, you will take full responsibility for the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective controls, and meaningful insights delivered directly to the Managing Director.
Own and manage the complete finance function across multiple entities, including bookkeeping, reporting, controls, and compliance
Prepare and deliver accurate, timely management accounts and financial reports directly to the MD, providing actionable insights for decision-making
Stabilise and optimise the financial tech stack, eliminating manual processes through automation
Design and implement integrated data pipelines between proprietary systems and QuickBooks Online
Automate reconciliations using exception-based logic, reducing manual intervention
Maintain standardised charts of accounts and oversee multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
Build real-time dashboards and reporting frameworks for executive-level visibility
Partner closely with software engineering teams to embed financial data integrity into core systems
Oversee payroll interfaces, financial allocations, and compliance across multiple US states
Drive continuous improvement and automation across both finance and broader operational processes
What you bring:
CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent finance qualification
Proven experience managing the full finance function, including reporting at an executive level
Strong multi-entity accounting experience, preferably within a tech-enabled environment
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and financial systems
Experience building dashboards, data models, and automated reporting frameworks
Strong technical mindset, with the ability to implement integrations and automation tools
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering or product teams
Ability to operate independently, take ownership, and engage directly with senior leadership
