Financial Accountant

A large manufacturing group is seeking the skills of a sought after Accountant to join their finance team. The successful incumbent will not only be responsible for the Financial Accounts, but will also oversee the IT systems of the company. Reporting to the FM, this role will require someone to handle pressure exceptionally well and be required to communicate across all levels in a confident manner.

Role open to EE candidates as per the BBBEE requirements of the client

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly financial statements; resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Posting of entries to nominal ledgers; preparation of general ledger; maintenance of fixed asset ledger
• Reconciliation of monthly financial accounts and the maintenance of accurate account balances; ensuring compliance with established accounting practices
• Submissions of monthly statutory returns
• Management of the full bookkeeping function: creditors, debtors, cash control, fixed assets and stock
• Monitor and review of accounting and any other related system reports; resolve accounting discrepancies
• Monitor and review of budget, revenue, expenses, payroll entries, invoices etc.
• Management of input and handling of financial data and reports; user assistance with daily functioning and problem solving, taking full responsibility for the Company’s IT systems
• Overseeing quarterly stocktakes, and regular cycle counts
• Back-up function for payroll — salaries and wages
• Updating of reports; end of day/month end/year en
• Annual Budget pack, Audit pack, Tax pack; Monthly VAT returns, Annual IT14SD reconciliation

Requirements:

• BComm Accounting/Finance or B Acc. Hons
• 3-5 years’ experience within the manufacturing and trading environment will be an advantage.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel experience as well as an interest in IT and system would be highly preferable.
