• We’re seeking a strong Financial Accountant to fill a vacancy at a well established Medium-Large sized Wholesale and Distribution company based in Germiston. This position is a 6 month contract with the opportunity to be offered a permanent position. The role would be a great opportunity for an ambitious and newly qualified Professional Accountant (SA).
• This position is driven by various projects  across all departments  and  disciplines  of  the  finance function and  requires  a  dynamic,  assertive  candidate  who can work  independently  to solve problems. The candidate will report to the Finance Manager and will need to have a keen interest in detail and ensure that the reporting is done meticulously while creating room for growth by seeking out more opportunities to add value.

Role and Responsibilities:

• To review financial transactions on the accounting system before final posting to ensure that  all  transactions  are  processed accurately (e.g., Correct treatment  of  VAT,  correct account allocation etc.).
• To  provide  support to  the  finance  team  by repairing ad hoc financial reports from  the accounting and finance system as per the instructions received.
• To  apply  the  basic  accounting  principles,  knowledge,  and  techniques  to  analyse variances, assist in production of journals, and perform routine accounting activities.
• To  perform  accounting  computations  and  calculations  accurately,  and  try to  identify  if there are discrepancies, and if there are any errors, try to resolve them.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Completed 3 years of SAICA or SAIPA articles (Required).
• Eligible to register as an AGA (SA) or PA (SA)  (Preferred).
• 0-2 years of post articles experience in commerce roles (Beneficial)
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Good attention to detail, must be very accurate, analytical, assertive.
• Excellent Time management and should be able to work on deadline driven situations.
• Superior proficiency in excel is essential.
• In depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures is a must with an ability to identify accounting discrepancies.

Salary: R250 000 - R300 000 per annum
