Financial Services Reporting Accountant - Cape Town at Intelligent Debt Management

• The role of the successful candidate will be as a Reporting Accountant for the Financial Services department and will report directly to the Head of Finance. The candidate will also be a strong support to the Head of Financial Services and will assist in reporting for the division. The candidate must be highly efficient, energetic, motivated, ambitious, and willing to learn, as well as being prepared to make a commitment to the business in the medium to long term.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• FS management reporting, including segmental reporting.
• Fair value calculation for insurance cell captive.
• Consolidated accounting, reporting and interpretation for all insurance entities.
• Tracking and monitoring the Insurance businesses.
• Preparation and review of various reports including AFS, Audit, Risk, Compliance etc
• Bank reconciliations for insurance business. Reconciling premiums and claims bank accounts and review of Bordereaux submissions.
• Payment of Claims and Reconciliation of claims account to board submissions.
• Calculation of the claims reserve.
• Year end audit responsibilities i.e. liaising with auditors and assisting with the preparation of Annual Financial Statements.

Support the Head of Financial Services with the management and co-ordination of the following activities in the division, in conjunction with managers and consultants providing various services:

• Risk , Internal Audit, Compliance, Actuarial, Finance, Internal controls, Internal Financial Controls, Cell captive reports & reporting, Tax, VAT, Regulative and Legislative matters etc.
• The incumbent will work closely with members of the Financial Services Team, the DebtBusters Team, ExCo, external consultants and various internal and external service providers.
• Supporting Finance Manager and Head of Finance with ad hoc projects.

Key Competencies

• Qualified CA (SA) with 2 years post articles experience.
• Experience in the insurance industry, with knowledge of IFRS 17.
• Be fluent in spoken and written English.
• Have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Have strong planning, organizing and time management skills.
• Be able to work independently as well as be a team player.
• Be able to multi-task effectively.
