Main Function:
Operate, maintain, repair and optimise plant and associated equipment to ensure plant availability, cost, safety and product quality.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Operational Support
•   Provide specialist support to the shift-based teams during operations.  
•   Where requested assist as a functional expert in problem solving.
•   Running Repairs
•   Partake in carrying out repairs on plant equipment as required on shift
•   Planned Maintenance
•   Take part in maintenance planning meetings, contributing suggestions, clarifying work required and carrying out maintenance tasks and building maintenance programs
•   Support the execution of the manufacturing excellence customs and practices (MECP) programme through problem solving, executing focused improvement projects and maintenance pillar activities
Housekeeping & Safety
•   Operate in a safe manner at all times, identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected
•   Ensure OEE targets are met 
•   Ensure all maintenance tasks are carried out to maximise plant availability and OEE to meet targets
•   Ensure that 5S standards are upheld in the work area as per the MECP requirements
Reporting and administration

• Ensure the various reports and administration tasks are carried out to support engineering and production
• Ensure that planned maintenance work and job cards are closed off timeously

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications, skills and competencies required by the position:

• NTC3, with matric maths and science
• Fitter Trade Tested
• Function – +- 5 years in FMCG
• Industry – +- 1 year
• Analytical skills
• Problem solving
• High numeracy skills
• Experience working on hygienic design and good manufacturing practices
• Knowledge of oats/wheat milling operations and associated equipment including understanding of control systems, aspiration, scales etc.
