Forensic Pathology Officer Gr 1 - Themba Pathology Services
Minimum Requirements: Senior Certificate/Grade 12 or equivalent. Senior certificate with Life Sciences at level 3 or more. Any other science subject will be an added advantage. Expected to perform shift duties, including weekends and public holidays.
Basic knowledge regarding the Legislative Framework regulating Forensic Pathology Service. Commitment to Batho Pele Principles. Basic computer skills.
The ability to work with human remains that are unidentified, mutilated decomposed and sometimes with infectious viruses.
Duties
Respond to scenes of incidents. Perform recovery, storage and processing of corpses.
Collect detailed information and other relevant exhibits from the scene of incidents. Assist the Medical Officer when performing the autopsy (evisceration) including x-ray to be taken.
Render efficient autopsy process according to the guidelines. Perform scribing duties during the autopsy process.
Render efficient handling and management of specimens after autopsy. Complete all the relevant documentation and control all the information optimally.
Attend court when necessary. Assist in the keeping of facility and equipment hygienically in terms of Occupational Health and Safety. Report to the Forensic Pathology Facility Manager.
