    Graduate Recruitment Manager

    About the job
    Purpose:
                                                                                                                           

    • Providing a specialist graduate recruitment and graduate management function focused on the attraction of high calibre Candidate Attorneys, managing them through the two year learnership and retaining them for permanent employment thereafter.

     

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field essential
    • Honours in HR or related field preferred
    • 6 years specialist experience in graduate recruitment, preferably gained in a professional services environment
    • 2 years working at managerial level
    • Full spectrum of recruitment, development and management of graduate talent
       

    Key Accountabilities:

    Management of the graduate recruitment & selection process for CA’s:

    • Provide input into the Graduate Recruitment Strategy and plan of the Firm
    • Advise business on best recruitment practices and policies
    • Work closely with the business to develop an understanding of graduate recruitment requirements in the context of the strategy, including the optimal number of CA’s to be recruited as well as retained
    • Develop and manage the implementation of the graduate recruitment process, including career fairs, company showcases, high touch events, vac programme, CA selection days and job shadowing
    • Manage the relationship with signed CA’s still studying
    • Ensure relevant record keeping relating to CA recruitment process
    • Review recruitment process and identify required recruitment innovations 
    • Support the CA Selection Panel with coaching and behavioral based interview training as required, to enhance the quality of hiring decisions

    Management and Development of CA’s:

    Manage and coordinate the activities relating to the two year CA learnership including:

    • CA Induction - collaborate with learning on the content and delivery
    • Registration of Articles
    • In-House PLT
    • Bi-annual performance feedback
    • Bi-annual rotation
    • CA specific Learning & Development in conjunction with Learning & Development
    • Annual CA retention process
    • Record keeping related to the CA Learnership in respect of performance reviews and any other relevant correspondence

    Bursary & Schools Project:

    • Manage the end to end process of applications for bursaries, assessment of applications and awarding bursaries
    • Manage the pool of bursary students to ensure that they continue to meet the academic criteria for continued financial support
    • Manage the relationship with the Alexander Education Committee
    • Manage the relationship with the Student Scholarship Programme

    Event Management:

    • Develop, organize and manage events at schools and universities
    • Provide support to Relationship Partners for individual universities with annual campus activities

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Develop relationships with Partners and the CA Selection Committee as a trusted graduate recruitment advisor
    • Develop and maintain relationships with CA’s, students, bursars and signed students
    • Develop relationships with external stakeholders who are part of the bursary allocation programme
    • Develop and maintain relationship with SAGEA (South African Graduate Employers Association)

    Policy development:

    • Develop and maintain the relevant policies relating to CA Recruitment and Selection and Graduate Bursary allocation as well as the processes relating to the management of the CA’s during the two year learnership
    • Oversee the implementation and adherence to the graduate recruitment, bursary allocation and CA lifecycle management policy

    Financial Management:

    • Provide input to the Graduate Recruitment, Graduate Bursary and CA management budgets
    • Manage and report on spend

    Management and Leadership:

    • Manage Graduate Recruitment Team’s performance to ensure delivery of the approved strategy
    • Give regular, comprehensive and constructive feedback to the Graduate Recruitment Team and conducts annual performance appraisal
    • Proactively seeks feedback from HR team and relevant stakeholders and deals constructively with any criticism
    • Adjusts management style to get the best from the Graduate Recruitment Team
    • Delegates work to the Graduate Recruitment Team taking into account capacity, level of skill and exposure to different types of work and complexity; provides clear instructions and direction, with reasonable deadlines
