The role:

POP 24 is seeking a dynamic and creative graphic designer who is ready to hit the ground running. The ideal applicant is a proactive individual with well-developed critical and conceptual thinking skills, they should be able to cope under pressure, be a team player and should bring fresh new designs/concepts to each project. The applicant should have a well-rounded knowledge of the design process and should be able to work on projects from logo designs, reports and graphic toolkits, to creative pitches and have a sound knowledge of branding. 

Key responsibilities:

• Receive a design brief and custom-make it for a specific client/broadcaster. 
• Conceptualise and design the following: Spec designs, logo, graphic toolkit, reports, and marketing material (for print and online). 
• Source and retouch images. 
• Supply broadcast-ready files that adhere to all technical specifications. 
• Keep abreast of the latest design trends and present forecasts to the Content & Edit teams. 
• Work independently on a variety of products adhering to strict timeframes and deadlines. 
• Have a good knowledge of the use of in-design and  
• Be able to work with Adobe CC package with the ability to execute from concept to repro-ready Assist with reprints 
• Check designs to ensure files are correctly delivered in the correct format. 
• Help create animated video content.

• Understand the technical processes involved in television production. 
• Have strong problem-solving skills and excellent organizational skills.

Additional requirements:

• A national diploma or equivalent in graphic design. 
• Minimum of five years' post-graduate experience in a professional studio or agency environment. 
• Strong conceptual and design ability including illustration / freehand sketching, supported by a portfolio of exceptional quality. 
• Good all-rounder capable of designing simple static social media posts, corporate identities and logos, posters, newsletters, reports, catalogues and creative presentations. 
• Knowledge of the television broadcast industry as well as all the post-production processes. 
• Expert technical skills on the Mac, sound knowledge of Adobe CC package with the ability to execute from concept to repro-ready. 
• Competency with motion graphics templates. 
• Good knowledge of the South African television broadcast landscape and the online video environment.
