    Digital Marketer (NB Publishers)

    Job Summary

    NB Publishers is looking for an enthusiastic, book-loving digital marketer to create, update and maintain engaging content and a comprehensive strategy for our social media platforms and online audience.

    Key responsibilities

    • Write, edit, update and publish content in Afrikaans and English for social media in alignment with company culture and image.
    • Ensure all books on the publication list receive exposure on NB Publishers' social media platforms.
    • Develop and explore new online platforms and influencers and maintain a good relationship with the current network of influencers and social media reviewers.

    • Liaise with webmaster to link social media activities with the website.
    • Maintain an excellent professional relationship with the publicity team, publishers, editors and other key stakeholders.
    • Produce and grow the NB Publishers podcast and distribute it on all relevant platforms.
    • Share coverage of in-person book launches and events and coordinate online book discussions when required.

    Educational Editor/Publisher (NB Publishers)

    Job Description

    NB Publishers has a permanent position available for an experienced professional with strong editorial, project management and people skills to manage and expand its range of educational titles. These titles, for Early Childhood Education to Grade 12, are published under the Best Books imprint.

    The Educational Editor/Publisher is responsible for

    • Project management of new titles, from manuscript to publication (including publication decisions, negotiating author contracts, assisting authors in shaping manuscripts to specifications, co-ordinating book & cover design and ensuring all permissions are in place).
    • Ensuring that all titles are published within the given quality, time frame and budget parameters.

    Graphic Designer (Media24tv)

    The role:

    POP 24 is seeking a dynamic and creative graphic designer who is ready to hit the ground running. The ideal applicant is a proactive individual with well-developed critical and conceptual thinking skills, they should be able to cope under pressure, be a team player and should bring fresh new designs/concepts to each project.     Senior Video Editor

    The role:

    POP24 is looking for a skilled senior video editor to work in both short and long formats, taking footage shot by production teams and editing it based on project specs. The required candidate must have extensive experience in all genres of programming.

    The video editor will be responsible for editing all projects for the unit to the required delivery specifications, in multiple formats, on tight deadlines, whether using supplied footage or other digital elements from which digital AVs should be created. 

    Key responsibilities:

    • Create motion graphics.
    • Colour grade projects for broadcast. 
    • Edit video footage to tell compelling stories and convey the intended message. 
    • Collaborate closely with our creative team to understand project objectives and vision. 
    • Maintain neat systems and meticulously labelled project files in case of handover. 
    • Ensure all footage and delivered material is stored and/or archived to the Media24-allocated server. 
    • Music selection from music libraries.  
    • Image selection from stock libraries, if needed.  
    • Give regular updates regarding the project status and deliverables to the Head of Content and the Post Production Manager. 
    • Manage own workflow and give regular progress reports and updates to their relevant Production Manager, Head of Content and the Post Production Manager. 
    • Comfortably accommodate multiple notes from clients, the Creative Producer and other stakeholders. 
    • Identify and implement improvements in the video editing process.
    • Continuously stay updated with industry trends and software to ensure the highest quality output. 
    • Ensure that projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.

    • Highly proficient in Adobe Premier Pro
    • A solid understanding of cloud service is required.

    Journalist (Actuality And News)

    The role:

    Pop24, Media24’s in-house television production unit, is looking for an enthusiastic journalist to join our ever-growing team on a 4-month contract starting from 1 June 2024 to 30 September 2024. The successful candidate will be a skilled writer with a passion for the job capable of both informing and entertaining viewers. They will primarily be responsible for assisting the Creative Producer for an actuality news show for a broadcaster. The role requires someone who is innovative, creative, and a problem-solver.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Conduct research to uncover interesting and significant news. 
    • Assist to prepare and compile a rundown for broadcast with audio-visual material as prepared and packaged through the collaboration of the team. 
    • Identify and utilise a wide spectrum of news sources and contacts and a network in the Afrikaans news environment and maintain these relationships for future use.  
    • Interview key persons (witnesses, sources etc.) to obtain more information. 
    • Research must be done responsibly by reaching out to relevant resources.  
    • Ensure all facts are correct by double-checking with various sources.  
    • Obtain first-hand information by being present in happenings. 
    • Receive assignments or investigate news leads/tips. 
    • Ensure that episodic content packs are deep and consistent by not only offering well-known and obvious information. 
    • Maintain notes and audio recordings.
