Handyman at One&Only Resorts

• This role is responsible for the Handyman within the hotel. The position focuses on ensuring that the building, guest rooms, public areas and equipment remain safe, functional and well maintained through regular inspections, preventative maintenance and prompt repairs.
• The role requires a strong understanding of the hotel’s buildings, equipment, electrical and plumbing systems, pipe and cable routes, valves, control panels, ducting, meters and fire safety systems. The employee must carry out room and public-area maintenance checks, identify defects, prevent potential breakdowns and report any issues to the supervisor.
• The position also involves responding to daily maintenance requests, accurately recording completed work, attending emergency and fire alarm call-outs, and ensuring that all safety procedures are followed. Hotel assets must be protected, appropriate protective equipment must be used, and the work environment must remain clean and safe.
• The employee is expected to work independently when required, while also cooperating with other departments, contractors and maintenance colleagues. Good communication is important, particularly when dealing with guests and explaining or coordinating maintenance requirements.
• Overall, this position requires someone who is technically capable, safety-conscious, reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance needs, weekend and public-holiday duties, and other operational requirements to ensure guest satisfaction and the smooth running of the hotel.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

• To be able to complete work in a timely manner.
• Have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar post.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages spoken are a distinct advantage
• To be able work well under pressure.
• To be able to work shifts, public holidays and weekends.
