    HEAD: CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT• REF. NO: SPE 41/20

    Requirements:

    • An appropriate degree in a built environment profession e.g. Civil, Building or Architecture (not
    • Mechanical or Electrical) and a project management qualification
    • Must be a registered professional
    • Ten (10) years’ postgraduate experience in project and programme management in the built environment
    • Sound working knowledge of local government procurement policies and practices, occupational health and safety and construction regulations
    • Computer literacy
    • Code B driver’s licence.

    Key performance areas:

    • Leading and managing a professional project management and engineering construction
    • management team toward the successful delivery of cross-cutting low to high risk and complexity community infrastructure projects and programmes across the project life cycle and within the stated constraints of scope, cost, time and stakeholder requirements, whilst ensuring alignment of projects to organisational strategy and in accordance with organisational and legislative policies and procedures.

    The key responsibility is to provide and enhance existing project and contract management capacity within the City of Cape Town by:

    • setting and improving standards and protocols
    • providing guidance as necessary identifying risks and mitigation plans
    • quality assurance and multi-stakeholder approvals.
    • A high level of managerial expertise and professionalism is required in an extremely complex delivery environment.
