    Description

    As our Account Manager, Government, you are impacting digital transformations through effective engagement with government leaders, C-level executives, IT leaders, architects, developers, and various lines of businesses. You are establishing AWS as the key cloud technology provider across the strategic accounts you manage, promoting the entire AWS products and services portfolio to the central, provincial, and state-owned enterprise market segment.

    On a daily basis you empower your customers to solve challenges while attaining both their operational and innovation goals. You deliver customer mission outcomes while guiding them to become more agile, innovative, and efficient. With AWS, our customers benefit from the fastest pace of innovation, the broadest and deepest functionality, the most secure computing environment, and the most proven operational expertise.

    You'll need to be a self-starter and be willing to operate both tactically and strategically. As a key team member in this fast-growing market, managing a healthy sales pipeline focused on driving revenue, adoption, and market adoption is key. You will have a proven track record and background in managing customers, working with partners, and delivering results. The successful candidate will also possess a technical understanding that enables them to easily interact with CIOs, CTOs and technical architects.

    Basic Qualifications

    • 10 plus years of technology related sales management experience
    • BA/BS degree required
    • Direct field sales experience working with South African Public Sector customers
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English
    • Extensive customer network
    • Proven track record of success driving adoption of disruptive technologies within enterprise accounts
    • Proven track record of the following: 1) Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets; 2) Develop and execute against a sales plan; 3) Maintain a robust sales pipeline
    • Work with partners to extend reach and drive adoption of AWS solutions
    • Manage complex government contract negotiations along with the core sales organization
    • Develop long-term strategic relationships with key government leaders
    • Ensure positive customer satisfaction
    • Expect moderate travel as required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A technical or educational background in engineering, computer science, or MIS
    • Experience selling cloud solutions at a software company
    • Cross functional selling experience (Architect, Sales Engineer, Professional Services, Partner, and ISV)
