This position will be accountable for the management of Investor Relations and Stakeholder engagement for the Group. In collaboration with the Group FP&A Executive, CFO and CEO, this role will establish a stand-alone investor relations function with the view of improving investor and market information sharing and communication relating to the Group.
FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investor relations management
Develop investor confidence and belief in the Group’s vision and strategy for delivering shareholder value
- In collaboration with the JSE Sponsor and External PR Specialists, understand key concerns from investors and stakeholders around the Group’s purpose and vision
- Formulate an Investor Relations approach to address the needs of Investors and other Stakeholders
- Identify market perception of what is shareholder value, and liaise with Group FP&A Executive and CFO in demonstrating this in forward-looking statements and messaging
- Liaise with Head of Strategy in order to determine how the Group’s strategy can be packed into bite-sized pockets which would make communication of these easier and more understandable, also in light of what can be shared
Develop a robust investor relations strategy and framework
- In collaboration with the JSE sponsor, identify a ‘best-in-class’ approach and develop the strategy and framework around this
- Liaise with the CEO and CFO on best approach around strategy and framework
- Through interaction with Corporate Affairs Executive, ensure that communications strategy covers the needs of Responsible Corporate Citizen
Create and manage a strong reputation by demonstrating consistent and clear communication between internal and external parties
- Working with the JSE sponsor, identify the need of investors around communication covering areas like frequency, level of detail, focus areas, market leadership and competitor approach
- Formulate an Investor Communication playbook setting out the prescribed process and identifying role players involved
- Through continuous engagement and feedback with investors and analysts, identify gaps in communication and address appropriately
Manage equity research and investor relationships
- In collaboration with the JSE sponsor, actively engage with major shareholders and key analysts and build a working and open communication relationship with them
- Arrange and manage regular catch-up meetings with these stakeholders and ensure clarity on what they expect/ need and what their concerns are
- Ensure all public information sharing is controlled through this role, Group FP&A Executive and CFO
- Act as the first point of contact for any investor related queries, preparing standard responses to common questions and facilitate conversations together with Group FP&A Executive on common and repetitive investor questions, thereby acting as a filter for the need of a discussion with the CEO and CFO
- Arrange critical needs meetings with CEO
Provide insights on market activity and present them to the leadership team
- Prepare monthly market activity reports and highlights from competitors/ market leaders
- Identify and analyse key changes in investment approach from major investors, analysts or potentially interested investors
Market Reporting
Assist in preparing the Group’s result releases
- Provide guidance on market expectations around messaging and context of result releases
- Advice on completeness of the content, and whether the communication is clear, precise, consistent and in line with the Investor Communication framework and strategy
- Identify areas of oversharing as well as areas needing more explanation
- Oversee the arrangements relating to results presentation days
- Through continuously seeking review and areas of improvement, arrange for feedback by specialists on quality of results releases and areas needing improvement
Assist in the preparation of the Group’s Annual Integrated Report
- Collect feedback from major shareholders and key stakeholders on information not adequately disclosed
- Ensure messaging of the report is consistent with results releases and covers expectation of market and stakeholders
- Assist Integrated Reporting Manager on content, flow, overall messaging and completeness of the report
- The review report, and in liaison with general counsel, ensure all regulatory areas are covered
Oversight of SENS releases
Liaise with Walmart on Investor communication and messaging
Requirements:
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree with 3+ years’ experience in market reporting Financial analysis, shareholder and stakeholder engagement and communications.
- JSE listing requirements, King IV and King V and Integrated Reporting Experience will be advantageous
