    HR Business Partner

    Role Purpose

    Supports individual managers and functions with advice on all HR matters and acts as point of entry to HRBP services as a whole. Acts as strategic partner towards the business and leverages general HR capabilities in meeting business requirements. The HRBP is tasked with ensuring alignment between the business operations and the HR practices and objectives. Operating at a strategic level, the incumbent has a keen understanding of the business's strategy, providing dynamic solutions using experience, data analyses, and organizational agility to guide decision making.

    Key Responsibilities
    Business Partnership

    • Develop understanding of the organisation, Industry and Region, and its current and future business environment and uses insights and data to identify people-opportunities and risks.
    • Build the capability of leadership teams through effective coaching, challenging and communicating.
    • Contribute to SSAME’s regional people plan(s) and builds the capability of leaders and managers to implement HR plans and programmes to meet business needs.
    • Identify key positions in the region and guide leaders and managers to put in place a strong internal and external talent pipeline and solutions and tools to hire and retain talent.
    • Ensures employees’ development plans are in place and facilitates and drives talent and competency development.
    • Drives the planning, delivery and evaluation of HR initiatives and deliverables (such as the POP cycle) in line with global people strategy.
    • Support the design and implementation of effective organizational structures and roles.
    • Advise and support leaders and managers in managing labour relations constructively and within relevant legislation, regulations and organizational policies.
    • Ensure the provision of people information, data and reports to provide insight and inform decision-making.
    • Drives the development of a culture that embraces change and promotes transparent communication, high performance and innovation.

    Leading HR:

    • Drive diversity throughout the business, assisting the Transformation Manager to ensure improved BEE rating and achievement of EE plan(s).
    • Manage and arrange relevant training interventions for employees in line with their PDP’s and the Workplace Skills Plan, on a continuous basis.
    • Role-model a strong commitment to own professional development, build awareness of HR and wider business trends and developments, proactively seek and act on feedback, share learning and provide advice and guidance to colleagues.
    • Demonstrate strong people skills in building high performing teams.
    • Develop objectives, milestones, timelines and performance metrics (such as KPIs) for HR plans and initiatives.
    • Promote and embed FLSmidth’s core values and hold leaders and managers to account to ensure their behaviour is aligned.
    • Ensure HR initiatives and tools are delivered cost-effectively.
    • Enable high standards of HR service by continually seeking client feedback, measuring performance and ensuring compliance with legislation and regulation.

    Requirements

    • A tertiary qualification in HR Management or Industrial/Organisational Psychology or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HR, covering a number of different HR areas including recruitment, labour relations, training and development, talent management, performance management, succession planning and employee engagement.
    • Experience of delivering HR in a related business environment.
    • Sound knowledge of relevant HR legislation and statutory requirements.
    • Ability to collaborate regionally across organisational boundaries.
    • Must have practical hand-on experience in working and collaborating with unions, shop stewards, local communities.
    • Full, operational knowledge of Workday, Sage People, Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability and skill to analyse, evaluate and report HR information and data at a regional and global level.
    • Foundation of business knowledge and commercial insight in relation to the region.
    • Proven track record in building credible and effective working relationships with leadership teams by communicating and challenging and using coaching skills.
    • Demonstrated success in advising leadership teams on the development and delivery of HR plans and programmes that support business priorities and deliver business benefits.
    • Broad HR expertise and knowledge to create effective and compliant people solutions and tools.
    • Extensive understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to HR – Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Skills Levy Act, Employment Equity Act, B-BBEE Act and codes (Understanding of regulatory framework and requirements relevant to HR),
    • Solid practical experience in preparing for and presenting CCMA / MEIBC cases.
    • Ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate HR initiatives for the Region.
    • Ability and skill to analyze, evaluate and report HR information and data to inform management decisions.
    • Ability to travel within South Africa, with own driver’s license, is a must have. Must have own vehicle.
    • Ability to handle high work volumes and multitask on a daily basis.
    • Ability to handle constant change is a must-have.
    • Run change management initiatives where required

    • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).
    • Responsible and reliable.
    • Highly motivated and can work under pressure.

    Functional Competencies

    • Working knowledge of Workday is a must-have
