    Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) Modeler/Engineer in Training (EIT)

    Overview

    Woolpert Africa, based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa, offers extensive high accuracy lidar, imagery and remote sensing experience, as well as airborne topographic, hyper spectral, and thermal survey and mapping. We provide mapping services for engineering, infrastructure, mining, mapping, agriculture, and environmental sectors in more than 45 African countries.

    Responsibilities

    • Working for and under the advisement of Licensed Professionals to fulfil H&H tasks
    • Assist with design and production of H&H Modeling projects
    • Conduct entry level to difficult hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
    • Assimilate and present data in reports and public forums
    • Respond effectively to inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies
    • Assist project staff as needed for a variety of projects
    • Duties may include occasional field work and travel

    Qualifications

    Qualifications / Experience 

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
    • 2+year experience
    • Strong understanding of hydrology and hydraulics
    • Working knowledge H&H software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, etc.
    • Working knowledge of GIS
    • Ability to analyze and interpret modeling results and understand practical application of modeling results to design projects.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with project management and coworkers.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
    • Good writing skills.
