ICT Network Engineer (Firewall and Networking) at City of Tshwane

Job purpose

• To design, implement, administer and maintain secure network infrastructure and firewall solutions in order to protect the organisation’s information assets
• To ensure network services by implementing security controls, monitoring network traffic, responding to security incidents and maintaining compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements

Appointment requirements

• An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or any ICT-related study field

The following relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage:

• Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) or Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP)
• At least three years’ experience of hands-on network administration, specifically managing routers and switches and configuring firewall policies
• A valid Code B driving licence
• Computer literacy
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

• Design, implement, administer and maintain enterprise firewall and network security solutions to safeguard the City’s ICT infrastructure and information assets
• Monitor, analyse and respond to network security events and incidents to ensure the availability, integrity and resilience of network services
• Implement network security governance, risk management and business continuity measures to ensure compliance and to protect critical ICT services
• Support the continuous improvement of network security services through collaboration, technical guidance, documentation and the implementation of emerging security technologies
