Inspector - (1045) - Uniondale at PPECB

Job Description

• The Statutory Operations Department has a vacancy for an Inspector in Eastern Cape Region - Uniondale area, to ensure the correct application of standards and protocols within the PPECB’s legislative mandate. The position offers the ideal opportunity for individuals to gain experience within a small team environment. The Inspector has the specific deliverable of ensuring compliance to all relevant procedures, protocols, work instructions and Service Level Agreements. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

•  Applying roles in Inspection, Cold Chain, Food Safety and Export Certification related to the specified geographical area.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Agricultural Product Standards Act.
• Ensuring adequate competency levels within the Harmonization framework.
• Inspection and certification of perishable products.
• Inspection of the handling, storage and transport of perishable products.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Perishable Products Export Control Board Act.
• Ensure correct application of quality management systems, procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure adherence to Service Level agreements.
• Ensuring effective two-way communication internal and external.
• Administrative tasks and reporting related to the execution of services.
• Accept the responsibility of continuous self-improvement in their area of responsibility according to the PPECB performance system.
• Participating in the relief duty roster

Job Requirements

• A National Diploma in agricultural, Food Science of Environmental health.
• National Certificate Perishable Products Export Technologist would be advantageous.
• Practical experience, theoretical knowledge and competence in Pome, stone fruit and Container Loading normal is a must.
• Exposure and competency in citrus, berries will be an added advantage.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• A valid code 8 driving license with ability to drive and own reliable transport is a requirement for doing the job.
