    Asset Administrator - (1058) - Cape Town

    High level job objectives

    • To ensure that all assets that are delivered from the suppliers and couriers are received; and barcoded and reported.
    • To liaise with the accounting team to inform them of the adjustments to various posted transactions relating to HVA.
    • Ensure that all assets are insured and damages to assets are claimed on time.
    • Perform physical asset verification and submit verification reports to management timeously.
    • Monitor and review the capturing of all physical assets in the physical asset management register.
    • Monitor and review the allocation of assets in accordance with the relevant policy and procedures and by reviewing the Remedy Ticketing System
    • Manage the determination of the asset allocation according to policy and procedure of PPECB.
    • Manage capturing of asset information on the inventory list (room list) of the asset holder.
    • Make follow up on missing assets to ensure that they are accounted for.
    • Manage the performance of asset verification according to prescribed time frames.
    • Compile reports on the state of assets.
    • Manage the disposal process.
    • Manage the transfer of ICT assets.
    • Manage the improvement of operational controls as reported on by Internal Auditors

    Qualifications

    Chief Inspector - (1068) - Eastern Cape Region

    Job Description

    • The Statutory Operations Department has a vacancy for a Chief Inspector (CI) -Sundays River and Fort Beaufort to ensure the correct application of standards and protocols within the PPECB’s legislative mandate. The CI position is a specialist role aimed at transfer of skills and monitoring of consistent technical competence within the legislative framework of the PPECB. The position offers the ideal opportunity for individuals to gain experience of supervision within a small team environment. The CI has the specific deliverable of ensuring compliance to all relevant procedures, protocols and Service Level Agreements within a defined geographical area. The position also offers the opportunity to influence business processes and practices within the Service Centre in which he/she is operating. The successful candidate will be required to be semi-functional which includes conducting inspections and participate in the annual relief duty plan.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Supervisory roles in Inspection, Food Safety and Export Certification related to the specified geographical area.
    • Ensuring adequate competency levels of staff within the Harmonization framework.
    • Inspection and certification of perishable products.
    • Inspection of the handling, storage and transport of perishable products.
    • Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Agricultural Product Standards Act.
    • Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Perishable Products Export Control Board Act.

    Job Requirements

    • A tertiary qualification in an agricultural discipline with at least 7 years relevant work experience. Please note: Candidates with less experience, but with proven outstanding performance will be considered in line with PPECB’s EE policy.
    • Knowledge, understanding and experience of all inspection services relevant to the specified geographical area.
    • edge and experience of product inspection of the following products: Avocados, Citrus; Grain and Cold Chain principles is a requirement
    • Experience in Food Safety audits will be an advantage.
    • Experience as acting supervisor within the inspections will be to the advantage of applicants.

    Junior Cold Chain Assessor - Seasonal Talent Development Opportunities (24-month programme) - Piketberg Area

    Job Description

    • The Operations Department has a vacancy for 1 x Junior Cold Chain Assessor to conduct inspection of products and equipment according to standard protocols as prescribed through PPECB’s legislative mandate and for the developmental opportunities for some of our seasonal employees to gain additional competencies within the 24-month period of the programme.
    • The purpose of the programme is to allow the incumbent sufficient time for product exposure; training; assessment; and soft skills. During the 24-month period the selected delegates will be supported with a dedicated training plan and supervision by the region. The exposure and training will include:
    • TITAN 2.0 ® exposure.
    • I-thrive (e.g., managing my time; dealing with conflict; etc.);
    • Additional soft-skills courses to promote professional skills; and
    • Additional courses to prepare for the new world of work (NWOW)
    • Depending on the regional needs; delegates of the programme may have the opportunity to take part in Relief Duty to receive exposure on additional products and will then be supported with accommodation and S&T allowance during such placements.

    Areas of Responsibilities:  

    • Inspect and certify perishable products;
    • Inspect the handling, storage and transport of perishable products;
    • Ensure the correct application of quality management systems, BMS procedures and working instructions;
    • Perform administrative tasks;
    • Build and maintain good relations with PPECB clients;
    • Communicate with various clients on own specific task and outcome of decisions;
    • Participate in the relief duty roster;
    • Accept the responsibility of continuous self-improvement in their area of responsibility;
    • Inspection of Containers and PTI;
    • Monitor temperatures and supervise container loading process on cold treatment and normal container loadings;
    • Container Calibrations;
    • Terminal monitoring; and
    • Process required documentation.

    Job Requirements

    • A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification
    • Competency in Container loading
    • Competency in Cold Store calibration
    • Experience in other cold chain functions will be an advantage.
    • Computer Literate
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • The ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • A valid code 08 driving license and own reliable vehicle is a requirement for doing the job.
