Job Description

• A South African property development, investment, and management company specializing in student housing, inner-city accommodation, and commercial and industrial real estate is seeking an Intermediate-to-Senior Full Stack Developer (Laravel & React) to design, build, and maintain features for the clients Nexus web platform.

Responsibilities:

• Development & Architecture: Design, build, and optimize scalable web applications and RESTful APIs using PHP, Laravel, and React. Conduct high-level architecture reviews, code reviews, and unit testing.
• Delivery & Execution: Lead sprint execution, standups, and release readiness. Translate commercial and product requirements into clear technical delivery plans.
• Defect Management & Stability: Own end-to-end bug triage, root-cause diagnosis (analyzing logs, traces, and API responses), and release quality. Ensure durable fixes over short-term patches.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Guide developers and QA to resolve technical blockers, align delivery with commercial commitments, and maintain clear status reporting for executive leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience: 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on PHP and Laravel.
• Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in PHP, Laravel, React (or Angular), MySQL, RESTful APIs, and Git.
• Systems & Cloud: Basic understanding of Linux-based web servers and deployment platforms (e.g., Laravel Forge, RunCloud).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Core Competencies: Excellent problem-solving, root-cause analysis, cross-functional communication, and self-management skills.
