    Internship Ingest Operator

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Supporting broadcast ingests control and transfer operations to maintain effective News media delivery for the shared News editing environment and News archives.
    • Ensuring adherence to technical specifications and optimal delivery on News’s needs and requirements.
    • Sound administration, ensuring accurate registering of changes, faults, and time. 
    • Understanding and application of broadcast and production television fundamentals including analogue and digital television systems, metadata, audio and video.
    • Understanding of live base band video and audio ingest compressions, ARC aspect ratio conversions (16:9/4:3) standard conversions (PAL/NTSC/SECAM) and HD/SD 
    • Knowledge and understanding of video and audio routing systems.
    • Compile reports and final control sheets with great care.
    • Ensure that select ad breaks as per FC Sheet are at appropriate places.
    • Communicate any queries and problems to the manager of the department 
    • Liaise with the manager regarding programme arrivals.
    • Upload digital files of programmes into the server
    • Create segments and new FC Sheets with the digital files naming convention
    • Check the if the digital files adhere to broadcasting requirements as stipulated in the SABC Delivery Guide Line document
    • To co-ordinate all TV News contributions to ensure the timely and quality delivery of news items for broadcast

    REQUIREMENTS: 

    • N6 / Diploma Electrical Engineering (light current) (NQF level 6) or relevant equivalent qualification.
    • Ability to work under pressure in particular live television environment.
    • Ability and willingness to work regular irregular hours, shifts and adapt to circumstances.
    • Excellent hearing and visual abilities
