IT Business Application Support Engineer at Country Bird Holdings Ltd (CBH)

Job Advert Summary    

The role of the business applications support engineer involves the daily support, maintenance and training associated with software applications used within the CBH group of companies. This position will assist with the installation, upgrade, development, and daily maintenance of software applications used within the group. This includes supporting, selecting and integrating applications that are important to business operations and employee productivity as well as enacting the access management requirements requested from the organisation.

Minimum Requirements    

• Minimum Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree/diploma is beneficial
• 2-5 years working experience in an ICT team.
• Experience of ICT service management processes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL – basic skills desirable.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Productivity Suite – Excel skills highly desirable.
• Knowledge of business process execution, preferably financial processes.
• Basic knowledge of project management practices.
• Technical knowledge of applications and information systems.
• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills.
• Willingness to learn other business applications.

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Conducting and monitoring the daily maintenance of software applications, including monitoring application functionality to guarantee the availability of information systems.
• Delivering support to existing business users and investigating and resolving application errors, data discrepancies and queries.
• Prioritises requests in accordance with agreed criteria.
• Assist in the formulation and communication of procedures relating to information systems and their use.
• Test application upgrades and advise on the effect of these upgrades on information systems. Assist in the installation of new applications and ensuring the installations comply with the company’s software policies.
• Assist in identifying and proposing application system changes, better uses, enhancements and developments.
• Assigning access and permission levels to information system users.
• Provide user training, support, advice and feedback for information systems.
• Assist users and report developers with identifying, exposing and consuming the underlaying data to assist with reporting and analytics.
• Assist in rolling out new developments and enhancements of current information systems to end users.
• Project administration and support.
