IT Communications Specialist at Stellenbosch University

Duties/Pligte        

• Developing, establishing and managing a comprehensive annual IT communication plan per the IT divisional strategy/plan for both internal and external communication; 
• Redesigning and maintaining the IT website to ensure up to date information at all times; 
• Producing an annual communication strategy and being responsible for implementing the approved IT communication strategy for the year across all areas of IT; 
• Innovatively writing, editing and proofreading printed materials such as documents, letters, yearbooks, etc.; 
• Redesigning and standardisation of forms with regards to communications of the IT Division; 
• Rewriting policies according to new proposed guidelines for the IT Division;;
• Responsible for storing all process / policy / guideline documents of the various areas within IT on a central repository; Translating letters, documents, policies and yearbooks; 
• Central point for collecting and distributing all internal and external communication for the Office of the Chief Director: IT; 
• Investigating and establishing innovative best practices in communication for the Chief Director: IT; 
• Managing all IT communications on various platforms (e.g., WhatsApp and social media such asTwitter);
• Assisting with the development of cost effective and innovative materials to support the work of the Chief Director: IT, such as training materials and information booklets for the IT Division; 
• Liaising with graphic design service providers to package content; 
• Providing editing, managing translation services and proofreading (in English and Afrikaans) support for various types of editorial material generated within IT Division.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

• Bachelour's degree in language or communication, marketing, or an equivalent qualification; 
• Two years' experience as a communications specialist or in a similar role; 
• Knowledge of digital, printed and other communication channels, principles and practices, including social media; 
• Excellent computer skills in MS Office and software to create graphics; 
• Excellent verbal and outstanding written communication skills; 
• The ability to think creatively and innovatively;
• Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on all internal and external levels on behalf of the Office of the Chief Director: IT; 
• The ability to work effectively under pressure in a complex environment; 
• The ability to provide excellent client service to internal and external customers; 
• The ability to think strategically; 
• The ability to function effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment;
• The ability to meticulously execute functions and attention to detail;
