IT Solution Architect/Agile Coach - Cape Town Durban and Pretoria at HSRC

Minimum Requirements    

• An Honours and/or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering and/or systems design;
• Proven experience as an IT architect with a solid understanding of architectural principles and patterns;
• Extensive experience, preferably in the public sector, in solution architect or equivalent roles;
• Experience in working with and/or within government settings will be an advantage;
• A track record of IT/digital work in African/international settings, with either public or private sector organisations would be highly advantageous;
• Experience and knowledge of agile frameworks and their application in software development;
• Strong coaching and mentorship skills;
• Proven team and/or line management experience;
• Performance-oriented, deadline-driven, and solution focussed;
• Creative problem-solving abilities given known constraints;
• Adaptive ability to navigate various organisational structures;
• Strong knowledge of various organisational systems; and
• Experience in cross-cultural professional communication would be of added value

Duties & Responsibilities    
Key responsibilities and deliverables will include:

• Lead and structure workshops and coaching sessions for the project;
• Co-create customised digital transformation roadmaps with each science granting council;
• Agile reporting as part of a multi-disciplinary project coordination and support team;
• Documentation of results to the CeSTII team;
• Coaching African science granting councils on using a digital transformation toolkit to create their own customised digital transformation roadmaps;
• Conduct workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing and capability-building initiatives to facilitate the development and operationalisation of the customised roadmaps;
• Process enhancement to identify areas for process improvement to optimise development workflows, release cycles and quality assurance in an agile context;
• Define and track key performance indicators related to agile adoption and architectural integrity, ensuring monitoring and adjustment.
