Jetting Supervisor at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose    

• To effectively clean and maintain the sewerage system.

Key Responsibility Areas    

• Supervises and controls a team of assistants.
• Transports staff to work sites in a responsible manner.
• Operates specialised extra heavy duty vehicle comprising of vacuum/high pressure jetting equipment.
• Completes job costing/work schedule records for work undertaken.
• Prepares sketches and reports on defects, invert levels and depths and locates sewer network using plans.
• Liaises with members of the public in respect of work undertaken with private properties, including obtaining the authorisation to undertake such work.
• Ensures that the work site is securely barricaded and made safe for road or pedestrian traffic and ensuring that all departmental health and safety standards are adhered to.
• Receives work from Control Room and communicates with Control Room via radio.
• Undertakes field investigations and reports back to the Superintendent.
• Undertakes duties of the Drainage Supervisor as required.

Essential Requirements    

• Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code EC1).
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• 2 Years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements    

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
• 3 Years relevant experience.
