Junior IT Technician at 3C Metal

Summary of Responsibilities and Duties:

IT Support:

• Provide on-site and remote IT support for staff in Cape Town, Namibia, and Mozambique.
• Analyze and resolve IT issues with help from third-party support providers.
• Install and maintain remote support software, primarily using Itarian, with rare use of Team Viewer and AnyDesk.
• Maintain thorough documentation, including user credentials, infrastructure changes, and licensing.
• Communicate continuously with staff about ongoing IT matters. 

Hardware and Software:

• Consult on cost-effective IT solutions and oversee IT assets and licensing.
• Implement, configure, and secure IT hardware, software, networks, and printers.
• Install, repair, and service computer equipment and provide input on system installations and purchases.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage backups and upgrades.

Security:

• Ensure up-to-date IT security measures, including antivirus, VPN, and Microsoft updates.
• Monitor and optimize staff systems, manage data backups, and enforce access controls.
• Report security issues and manage server authorizations and periodic file clean-ups.

Administration and Reporting:

• Communicate effectively and prepare monthly IT support reports.
• Enforce IT policies and ensure timely submission of documentation such as claims and job cards.

Profile

Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience

• Matric a must and relevant MCSE training would be beneficial.
• A+ and N+ qualified.
• Basic, technical Pastel experience: install, configure, and support.
• Setup and secure Wi-Fi LAN access points, LAN printers, switches
• Basic LAN support knowledge
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, 10, 11, Server 2012 - 2019 (AD an advantage).
• Self-help knowledge of TCP/IP subnetting, DHCP, and DNS.
• Office 365 Tenant Management
• Knowledge of general ISP services: domain and email hosting
• Set up and configure VoIP telephony services.
• Experience in virtualization VMWare ESXi and Hyper-V
• Knowledge of system security (Sophos or equivalent) and data backup/recovery (Acronis, Altaro, Veeam)
