    Key Account Manager - Meat Processing | Riebeek-Kasteel

    Job Description

    • Salesworx is proud to partner with one of South Africa’s leading meat processing and distribution companies. We are seeking exceptional Key Account sales professionals from within the meat processing industry who bring a strong track record and an established network in wholesale meat trading.
    • You will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with strategic, high-value clients within the meat industry. In addition to overseeing client accounts, the individual will be directly involved in wholesale sales, including order management, pricing and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
    • This role combines client relationship management, direct wholesale sales and coordination across internal teams to drive revenue growth, maintain operational efficiency and provide superior service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and sustain strong, long-term relationships with key accounts, ensuring their satisfaction and fostering loyalty.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and facilitating seamless communication between the client and internal teams.
    • Understand client requirements in-depth, offering tailored solutions to meet their specific needs in the wholesale and supply market.

    Wholesale Sales & Order Management:

    • Manage the direct wholesale sales process, from receiving and processing orders to negotiating pricing and finalizing terms with clients.
    • Oversee the preparation of wholesale orders, ensuring accurate product selection, packaging, and timely delivery in alignment with customer expectations.
    • Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability, and manage wholesale pricing structures in conjunction with market trends.

    Sales Strategy & Business Development:

    • Develop and implement strategic plans for each key account, identifying opportunities for account growth through additional product offerings or services.
    • Pursue new wholesale opportunities, cultivating relationships with prospective clients, and leveraging existing networks to increase business opportunities.
    • Drive revenue growth by identifying and capitalising on cross-selling and upselling opportunities within key accounts.

    Market Analysis & Forecasting:

    • Continuously monitor industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to ensure the business remains competitive and responsive to market shifts.
    • Work closely with internal teams, including logistics and supply chain, to forecast demand accurately and maintain inventory levels to meet wholesale requirements.

    Operational Coordination & Logistics Management:

    • Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure the efficient processing and fulfilment of wholesale orders.
    • Manage product availability, ensuring that all orders are delivered on time and in full, while maintaining high standards of product quality.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to product handling, packaging, and wholesale distribution.

    Contract & Pricing Negotiation:

    • Lead contract negotiations with key accounts, ensuring favourable terms while maintaining profitability.
    • Develop and manage pricing structures for wholesale clients, ensuring consistency with overall business goals and market conditions.

    Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of wholesale orders, client communications, and account performance using CRM tools.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management, detailing account status, sales performance, and opportunities for growth or improvement.

    Requirements

    What we are looking for:

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of the meat wholesale industry, including product offerings, pricing models, and supply chain processes. 
    • Wholesale Sales Experience: Proven experience in wholesale sales or account management, with a strong understanding of wholesale pricing and distribution practices. 
    • Client Relationship Management: Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with high‑value clients and key accounts. 
    • Negotiation & Communication: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including contract discussions and issue resolution. 
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse sales data, market trends, and client performance to develop effective sales strategies. 
    • Operational Management: Experience in managing wholesale orders, logistics and ensuring timely product delivery.

    Education & Experience: 

    • 7+ Years Experience in Key Accounts Management/Wholesale
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Experience with CRM systems and sales tracking tools.
    • Understanding of food safety regulations and compliance requirements within the meat industry.

    Additional Skills/Conditions: 

    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client accounts and orders simultaneously.
    • Ability to work cross‑functionally with internal teams, including logistics, procurement, and customer service, to ensure smooth operations.
