    Lampsman SF

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent)
    • Lampsman Certificate
    • At least 1 years’ experience as a relieving Lampsman in the mining environment

    The Appointee should:

    • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
    • Clear security screening record.
    • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lampsroom management Conduct early shift inspections to ensure all equipment and systems in the lamproom are operational - Ensure that all lamps are charging - Ensure that all spare equipment is returned after the previous shift - Ensure that all rescue packs are sealed before the next shift commences Oversee and ensure that equipment and instruments are issued according to the required standards and procedures Submit external service supplier invoices for approval and payment Ensure sufficient stock levels of equipment and instruments are maintained in the lamproom - Identify minimum stock level requirements via the Ventilation department - Obtain quotations from suppliers - Submit quotations to Operations Leader for approval Compile daily movement report on equipment and instruments in the lamproom Report any problems encountered on the previous shift to the Operations Leader Assist with shift clearance according to the required standards Calibration of gas monitors Inspect gas cylinder for any leakages and report maintenance and repairs requirements pro-actively Monitor logbook recordings to ensure that all underground employees test gas monitors prior to proceeding underground Ensure that charging racks are clean and operational Checks on correct placement of lamps on charging rack Identify faulty lamps and equipment for repairs Ensure that charging racks, lamps and equipment are cleaned on a daily basis Apply recognized work and safety standards Oversee the effective repair and maintenance of lamps and equipment Identify faulty lamps and allocate maintenance tasks to the Lamproom Attendant accordingly Ensure that re-usable components are being recovered Compile maintenance requisitions for repairs and maintenance of equipment by external service suppliers Maintains good employee relations: Support the induction of new employees Support and participate in training and development Effectively communicate with other team members and fellow employees •
    • Stakeholder Relations Maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
    • Financial Management Cost Savings: Adhering to cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.
    • Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
    • ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. US PGM Operations: Enhance together for ICCM principles.
    • SHE Compliance Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Quality Management System (QMS): Approve department’s documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System.
