Grade 12.Technical qualification in waste management and/or Environmental management will be an added advantage.

DUTIES
Responsible for the landfill site’s quality, safety and general maintenance. Responsible for daily operations and oversights. Responsible for planning and coordinating the deployment of heavy equipment and personnel to optimize operational efficiency. Supervise the maintenance of landfill infrastructure, including access roads, drainage systems, leachates, collection systems and gas management systems. Coordinates with the maintenance department for equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections.
Assists landfill operators to manage site according to the requirements stipulated by DWAF in precautions and quantity control principles of the landfill sites. Supervision of the labourer team to ensure that the landfill site is managed in a proper and safe manner. Conduct regular safety briefings, site inspections and ensure all staff wear appropriate PPE. NEMA and NEMWA and its associated regulations. Responsible for training staff on site to identify and report prohibited or hazardous waste streams that are not permitted at the landfill. Implement procedures for responding to environmental incidents such as spills, fires and any safety emergencies.
Develop and manage work schedules for landfill staff, including allocation of duties and management of overtime. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance issues. Coordinate the work of external contractors operating on the landfill site.
Prepare regular reports for management on landfill performance, compliance status and any deviations or incidents. Interacts with the public and clients addressing inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner. Perform any other Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
