    Learner Data Capturer

     

    Purpose of the position:

    • To capture incoming clinical data on clients rendered service from the facilities, mobile and outreach teams; Maintain electronic database for data submitted; Check data correctness, completeness, consistency and data verification by liaising with relevant staff.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 (level 4 qualification)
    • National certificate and/or training in the HIV AIDS and STI programme
    • Beneficiary of DREAMS
    • Over 18 years old and up to 24 years old
    • Good communication skills
    • Background or interest in HIV and public health
    • Needs to be self-motivated to attend all training sessions and required to complete assessments (portfolio work) for accredited training.
    • Basic computer literacy skills (formal computer training will be provided)
    • Basic numeracy skills (math literacy)
    • Able to communicate in English and isiXhosa is an advantage
    • Clear criminal record

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Prepare Clients folders by getting all the stationery ready and ensuring that there are sufficient client folders “pre-populated” with the correct stationery and providing it to the clinical teams.
    • Neatly file client folders at the regional office
    • “Pull” client folders based on schedules provided by clinical staff (files should not be kept on the mobiles)
    • Ensure the electronic Excel register is submitted to M&E on time on a monthly basis
    • Update results from NHLS on clinical registers
    • Follow up on missing data fields
    • Enter newly initiated clients on the electronic Excel client register from source documents (this should preferably have done on a daily basis to avoid a back-log)
    • Capturer clients on HPRS, Tier.net and DHIS
    • Update client information on the electronic registers from source documents (this should preferably have done on a daily basis to avoid a back-log)
    • Identifying duplicates before capturing
    • Ensure every client signed the intervention register and filled in the demographic form before capturing
    • Liaise with clinical staff and counsellors to rectify any gaps/errors on the clinical stationery

    • Attend workshops, meetings and trainings as required
    • Assist with facility data verifications
    • Strengthen the public health information system and support the implementation of user-friendly electronic and paper-based data management systems in the public health system
    • Support facilities to ensure all relevant data is accurately captured into Health Information Systems e.g. DHIS or TIER.net
    • Monitor use of TIER.net line list reports
    • Ensure a high standard of data quality through accurate weekly data collection as per CDC instruction and verify against facility weekly tally books to ensure quality assurance
    • Provide on-site mentoring to Department of Health facility staff where gaps are identified
    • Apply a data quality audit toolkit, ensuring accurate TIER.Net data entry
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Data Quality Officer
