Learning Designer at Hubble Studios

Role

• As a mid-level Learning Designer at Hubble Studios, your main role will be to assume responsibility for creating and ensuring the execution of the learning design agenda at Hubble Studios. You will design training programmes and courses and oversee content development and quality for those courses.

Responsibilities

1) Course design – standard to complex courses:

• Conducting needs analyses, including assessing learning needs, audience and placement
• Course design (standard courses), including formulating high-level outcomes, course structure, delivery design, and evaluation
• Demonstrate awareness of learning technologies, including when they should, and should not, be used

2) Collaboration with subject-matter experts (SMEs):  

• Work with SMEs and client project team to understand learner profile, organisational context and content requirements

3) Curriculum design:

• Formulate learning objectives
• Create outline of standard courses, including flow and structure
• Conduct a content gap analysis to identify areas that need more content/explanation
• Design courses such that learners move towards pre-defined goal/s and learning objectives
• Create the appropriate context for aesthetics, placement, frequency of assets/tools, and content format

4) Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Communicate with the Project Manager to provide regular updates, including issues affecting time and scope of project
• Follow client feedback and requested changes to ensure that changes requested are reasonable with regards to project budget, quality, timeline, goals and learning objectives
• Select and/or adapt tools to determine if the goal/s and learning objectives were met
• Understand client reporting requirements and align these with Hubble Studios’ reporting standards

5) Project quality assurance processes:

Act as final quality assurance (QA) point for all assets, focusing on:

• Content flow
• Learning value of content
• Alignment of content to learning objectives
• Relevance of learning interactivities to content and learning objectives
• The functionality of the content package and Learning Management System (LMS) design
• Visual communication, including visual hierarchy, unity, balance and learning value to the content

6) Management - external:

• Maintain relationships with clients, including SMEs and project teams; manage client expectations
• Educate clients on Hubble Studios’ learning development process

7) Management - internal:

• Adopt a support role for technical challenges faced by content creators; provide input on ways in which content can better align with original curriculum design and learner needs
• Work with Project Manager to produce hour/cost estimates for project outcomes
• Flags risks that could adversely impact the project

8) Innovation:

• Keep abreast of emerging trends and approaches in the e-learning market and utilise new methods

Our ideal candidate has the following skills/experience:  

• Bachelor’s degree and/or higher degree in teaching, content development or similar
• 3 – 5 Years’ relevant experience
• Strong course design knowledge and experience
