    Lecturer in Graphic Design - (A632.2)

    Job Primary Purpose

    • The primary purpose of this position is to provide teaching, research, community engagement, and administration in Graphic Design.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Leadership: The provision of some leadership at the module level.
    • Teaching & Learning: The provision of Leadership in teaching & learning and the provision of relevant, up to date course, using modern and appropriate pedagogies.

    Research:

    • The provision of leadership in research at a School level.
    • Research and the production of accredited research outputs.
    • Postgraduate supervision and the graduate of Master's and Doctoral students in the minimum time.
    • Engagement: Engagement and leadership in engagement, through which knowledge and skills are used to benefit the discipline/profession and the community.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Graphic Design.
    • Progress towards obtaining a Doctoral qualification in Graphic Design.

    Experience:

    • Some experience of lecturing in a university.
    • Evidence of research outputs including papers in accredited national and international journals and invited presentations at national and international conferences.
    • A record of postgraduate supervision at Honours and Master's levels.
    • Evidence of application of disciplinary/professional knowledge and skills to the benefit of the external community.
    • Participation in and leadership of learned societies.

    Key Competencies

    Knowledge of the theory and application of the discipline:

    • Understanding of principles of leadership and management at discipline level.
    • Good interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills.
    • Understanding of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education and teaching skills.
    • Understanding of the role of the University in Engagement and an ability to lead engagement activities in teaching or research.

    Personal Attributes

    • People-oriented, hardworking, responsible, reliable, creative, and innovative.
    • Respectful, honest, punctual, and understanding of protocol.
    • Proven attributes of transparency, integrity, and teamwork.
    • Good understanding of the role of the University in Engagement.
    • Ability to teach online.
