    Lecturer - Political Studies (E230262)

    Introductory paragraph
    We invite applications for a permanent position in the Department of Political Studies at UCT. The appointment will be made at the level of Lecturer. The Department is responsible for teaching Politics, International Relations, Public Policy and Administration, and Transitional Justice at all levels, and it is one of the leading centers of research into politics, broadly conceived, on the African Continent. For this post, we are seeking an appointment as soon as possible in Public Policy and Administration.

    Requirements for the job:

    • A PhD in Public Administration or Management and Public Policy.
    • Some teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Demonstrate the potential to engage in high-quality research.
    • The following will be advantageous:
    • Some experience in postgraduate supervision.

    Responsibilities:

    • The position involves a combination of research, teaching, administration, and social responsiveness in public
    • policy and administration in the department of political studies. The teaching, administrative and supervision
    • duties of the appointee will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and research interests and priorities,
    • and the needs of the department.
    • Appointment will take place in alignment with the faculty’s expectations for performance at each rank.
