Legal Advisor at Ilembe District Municipality

Description

• Responsible for all the Municipal Legal Services and Strategy;
• Keeping abreast of legislative changes and National Government requirements;
• Providing legal advice and opinions;
• interpereting legal prescripts and documents;
• Guiding the formulation and/or amendment of Municipal Policies;
• Formulating response to all legal matters facing the Municipality;
• Initiate and lead procedures intended to deal with all legal issuies, including supply chain management;
• Drafting and proofreading all contracts and legal documents;
• Liasing and giving instructions to attorneys and advocated appointed defend the Municipality; submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports on legal matters;

Requirements

• Relevant Legal Degree LLB / Equivalent Qualification (NQF Level 7),
• Admission as an Attorney or Advocate
• Computer Literacy (MICROSOFT Office Applications MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Valid Driver’s Licence
• 3 - 4 years’ experience in a role related to this position
• Knowledge of Municipal procedure, as well as systems and how they are related to external organisations
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and ordinances;
• Through knowledge of policy and strategy formulation;
• Analytical, communication, and leadership skills
