Legal & Compliance Associate at MWEB

Main Purpose of the Job:
To support the legal and compliance function:

•  by providing administrative and legal support, attending to regulatory complaints and queries, overseeing the contract management process which includes legal review and drafting legal correspondence.
•  ensuring organizational compliance by assisting with compliance training and programs.

Job Output:

•  Reviewing legal agreements
•  Attending to regulatory complaints
•  Drafting, proofreading, and preparing legal correspondence
•  Managing the electronic filing system
•  Liaising with business stakeholders to assess their legal and compliance requirements
•  Regulatory monitoring

Skills and Competencies:

•  Sound understanding of contracting principles (conformance / contract compliance)
•  Detail oriented and highly organised
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•  Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines

Requirements
Qualifications: 

•  LLB Degree (nonnegotiable)
•  Admitted attorney (preferable)

Experience:

•  Completed article of clerkship
•  2- 4 years professional experience at a law firm or inhouse (legal review and drafting)
•  ISP and telecoms experience (preferable but not a requirement)
•  Extensive working knowledge of RICA, CPA, POPIA, ETCA
•  Experience working with regulators industry bodies (ARB, ISPA, ICASA) and law enforcement
