    Legal Risk Consultant - Banking (PTA)

    Description

    • Manage the legal risk of the bank whilst maintaining commerciality, which includes, inter alia, instructions of bonds, authorising payments, vetting documents, and drafting guarantees. Perusing entity documents to establish locus standi of the entity entering into the contractual obligation.
    • Primarily to work on high value transactions – high income banking deals (full understanding and experience of commercial deals, commercial development deals, secured loan deals, home loans and building bonds, equipment deals and unsecured loans)
    • Review of the documentation and verification of supporting documents
    • Instructing attorneys and signing loan documents on behalf of the bank
    • Liaising with attorneys
    • Ensure that loan documents have been signed correctly and will be legally enforceable 
    • Perusal of lease agreements and pre-sale agreements
    • Cancellations (instructions, consents and refunds)
    • Payouts and unutilisation of funds
    • Understanding and calculating pay plans
    • Restructures and maturities
    • Issuing of all types of standard and non-standard guarantees (FADV/Access/CCM and Treasury)
    • Release of securities
    • Collateral (loading and correcting of securities)
    • Assisting with the training and coaching of new starters
    • Assisting with projects
    • Deal implementation process – this process will be the main focus until signing powers has been granted

    Experience, skills and capability

    • LLB (additional BCom an advantage) 
    • Conveyancer (an advantage)
    • 3 – 5 years' experience in practice or
    • 5 years banking experience
