Library Assistant- Safety and Community Services at Drakenstein Municipality

JOB PURPOSE:

• Directly assisting the public in the general use of the library’s resources and with basic reference enquiries, performing circulation control functions, assisting with developing a reading culture, participating in programmes to promote the library’s service and performing allocated administrative tasks to help ensure that the library functions effectively.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST:

• Grade 12
• Registered member of LIASA (to be obtained within 6 months)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Basic computer literacy
• A high level of literacy and a wide general knowledge, as well as basic knowledge of literature in general, is required to assist users with their basic information and reading enquiries

EXPERIENCE:

• 0-2 years experiential knowledge of public libraries
