Develop floor plans based on space-performance elasticity measures, optimized category assortments by format/ customer/ size clusters at store level, by the appropriately proportioned allocation of space as well as the layout, positioning and adjacency of display groups and planograms. Create Macro layout based on blueprint models as well as individual store architecture and performance. Maintain and update floor plans for all their trading stores for all changes.
Job description
Have a firm understanding of each store's profile and performance - will be responsible for ensuring the most optimal proportioned planogram(s) are chosen within the required space/fixture positioning for each store.
Be the first point of contact within the Space Team for stores with requests to change space. Effectively apply retail knowledge on any store changes and communicate this change both internally and externally. Whilst being able to rationalise decision making to those that are impacted.
Carry out store visits across relevant regions, completing macro-space-accuracy surveys when required. Store visits can be conducted virtually if need be.
Manage and control the successful macro space implementation of programmes such as New Stores / Mods / Trials, Store Optimisation, Assortment Optimization Category and Equipment Replacement roll outs.
Accurate management of floor plan download dates and in so enabling timeous store catalogue and stock movement timelines with relevant stakeholders.
Manage and drive Critical Path activities within the Floor Planning team and ensure delivery of accurate Floor Plans at all times ensuring team have clear expectations.
Create and implement macro blueprint models per role of store and implement resultant Macro layouts at store level.
Analyse space to sales performance using the Floor planning tools such as the 'foods space calculator' in combination with blueprints, providing recommendations to influence buying / allocation decisions with the Merchants / Planning & Allocation teams.
Responsibilities include working with Merchandise Managers, Display Planners and respective cross functional partners, using JDA Floor planning software and company applications, and performing space analysis and interpreting data.
Provide information on space and layouts as required by the business.
Project management understanding desirable, required to work with project coordinator and project manager.
Minimum requirements
6-8 years space planning, category management or similar experience
2-4 years relevant retail management experience in FMCG
Store experience advantageous
Planning experience advantageous
Advanced Excel skills for management reporting purposes
Experience in retail layout, display and equipment types
Understanding of space, range and merchandising processes at stores
Knowledge of JDA Floor Planning and CAD software an advantage
CAD experience is desirable and advantageous
Puzzle building ability, conceptual and spatial understanding and application
Willingness and ability to travel
Driver's License advantageous
Retail Space & Display Management, the understanding of the Geo, Macro, Micro space parameters and ability to analyse, interpret and optimise KPI's relevant to space
Range & Catalogue Management, the understanding of range construction, analysis and performance
Merchandising Process Integration, the understanding of store processes and resultant impact of decisions
Communication skills, the ability to integrate with key stakeholders at all levels
Project management skills advantageous
Must be conscientious and detail oriented, analytically minded, able to interpret and gather data, be a strong critical thinker and have a high computer and technical aptitude
Comfortable constructing presentations and ability to present information to a wide range of audiences
