More About the Role

• The candidate will be responsible for leading the maintenance department, including staff reporting to them. The role requires independent work, daily reporting to the GM via email, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations. The successful candidate must enjoy challenges, be open to learning through experience, and take initiative when faced with urgent situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance department and supervise staff reporting to you.
• Plan and execute preventative and daily maintenance.
• General building and facility maintenance (construction, repairs, painting, carpentry).
• Basic plumbing (leaks, taps, toilets, drainage).
• Basic electrical maintenance (lighting, plugs, fault-finding – non-industrial).
• Mechanical aptitude for doors, fittings, moving parts, and fixtures.
• Daily reporting back to GM via email.
• Maintenance of outdoor areas (walkways, decks, railings, beachfront exposure).
• Attention to detail and pride in presentation, as this is a guest-facing role.
• Ability to quickly adapt to changes and handle multiple tasks per day.
• Preventative and routine inspections.
• Understanding of health and safety standards in public accommodation areas.
• Experience in a hospitality, lodge, hotel, or guesthouse environment is beneficial.

• Matric.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in maintenance and facility management.
• Own tools are required.
• Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license.
• Must be available to respond to emergency call-outs when required.
• Previous team leader experience is a strong advantage.
• Able to take instruction and leadership from management.
• Strong team player with the ability to lead when required.
• Enjoys challenges and is open to gaining experience and learning on the job.
• Must be able to work independently, without supervision
